Road Racing News: Proven TT Riders Lead the Pack for 2024
As the anticipation builds for the 2024 Isle of Man TT, the starting order for the prestigious road racing event has been unveiled. Headlining the list is the legendary John McGuinness, who will celebrate his 52nd birthday this month and has confirmed his return to the TT for the upcoming edition.
McGuinness, the TT icon, will lead the field away on his Fireblade CBR1000RR-R in the Superbike, Senior, and Superstock races. He will be followed by Jamie Coward for KTS Racing aboard a Honda, with new official Honda signing Dean Harrison starting at number 3 for his first TT since switching from DAO Racing and Kawasaki machinery.
Ian Hutchinson, who scored his historic five-in-a-week success in 2010 with the Padgetts Honda squad, will mark his TT return from fourth on the road. Hutchinson, who missed last year’s event after suffering a stroke earlier in 2023, is eager to reclaim his place among the road racing elite.
James Hillier, riding for the new WTF Racing team-run Honda, will go from fifth, with the ever-dominant Michael Dunlop starting from number 6. Dunlop, who notched up his 25th TT wins last year, stands on the edge of beating his uncle Joey Dunlop’s long-standing record of 26 in 2024.
The top 20 starters for the Supertwin, Supersport, and Sidecar classes have also been released, showcasing the depth and talent in the field. Riders such as Paul Jordan, Jamie Coward, and Peter Hickman will be among those vying for glory in the highly competitive support races.
As the countdown to the 2024 Isle of Man TT continues, the stage is set for a thrilling road racing spectacle, with the seasoned veterans and rising stars ready to take on the legendary Mountain Course.
