2024 Isle of Man TT: Schedule Update and Racing Action
Tuesday, June 4, marks the third race day of the 2024 Isle of Man TT, following the exciting opening Supersport and Sidecar contests on Saturday. Sunday’s action saw a thrilling six-lap Superbike TT won by Peter Hickman, setting the tone for the rest of the event.
Today’s Schedule at the Isle of Man
Today’s schedule at the Isle of Man is set to feature the highly anticipated first Superstock race and the opening Supertwin contest. Initially, the three-lap Superstock race was scheduled to start at 11:45am BST, followed by the three-lap Supertwin contest at 2pm BST. However, due to forecasted rain expected to hit the island later this morning, the schedule is facing a delay.
Organisers announced this morning that they will issue an update to the schedule at 12pm BST, marking the second time this week that racing has been affected by delays.
Delays and Schedule Changes
Saturday’s action was heavily disrupted by a road traffic accident over the mountain, requiring a lengthy clean-up and recovery operation. This pushed the Supersport race to 2:45pm and the Sidecar contest to 5:15pm.
Last week, poor weather conditions led to the cancellation of the second day of practice, while Thursday’s running on practice week was also scrapped due to a road traffic incident. The Clerk of the Course strive to make announcements about schedule interruptions as early as possible, particularly to avoid marshals on the mountain section being forced into lengthy waits.
Road Closure Provision
The Clerk of the Course has a lengthy road closure provision to have flexibility with the schedule. Roads on Tuesday can close from 10am to 5pm, and again from 6pm to 9:30pm. Currently, racing is due to take place on Tuesday, June 4, Wednesday, June 5, Friday, June 7, and Saturday, June 8. However, there are contingencies in place that would allow racing to take place on Thursday, June 6, and Sunday, June 9 if necessary.
