Cycling Enthusiasts Eagerly Await the Top Contenders for the 2024 Isle of Man TT Races
The anticipation for the 2024 Isle of Man TT Races is building as the top 20 runners and riders for the 1000cc classes have been revealed. John McGuinness MBE, the 23-time TT winner, will once again carry the coveted number 1 plate for the RST Superbike, RL360 Superstock Race 1, PE Superstock Race 2, and Milwaukee Senior TT Races.
Top Contenders and Their Positions
The Honda Racing UK rider will be the first man away this year, having started from number 3 in 2023. McGuinness will make his 109th TT start in the opening Superbike Race, followed closely by Jamie Coward on the KTS Racing powered by Steadplan Honda, who is now confirmed at number 2 for each of the solo classes.
Joining the Honda presence in the top 5 are Dean Harrison, Ian Hutchinson (Milenco by Padgetts Motorcyles), and James Hillier (WTF Racing). Michael Dunlop, continuing at his regular number 6 position, is yet to confirm his plans for the 1000cc classes, but it’s widely assumed he’ll be on board a Honda CBR1000RR-R Fireblade SP as he bids to become the most successful rider in TT history.
Other notable entries include Josh Brookes (Monster Energy BMW by FHO Racing) at number 7, Davey Todd (Milwaukee BMW Motorrad) at number 8, and Craig Neve (Bathams Racing Honda) at number 9. Outright lap record holder Peter Hickman, starting at number 10, is set to be a favorite, having won 10 of the last 13 1000cc races around the Mountain Course.
