Monday, March 25, 2024 – Road Racing News: With the highly anticipated Blackford Financial Services Pre-TT Classic Road Races just around the corner, Southern 100 Racing promoters are issuing a crucial reminder to all enthusiasts, visitors, and spectators: the Colas Billown Course has been designated a NO DRONE ZONE by the Isle of Man Civil Aviation Administration for the duration of the 2024 races, taking place on May 24th, 25th, and 26th.
The airspace surrounding the iconic Southern 100 Course can get congested with aircraft activity during and outside of racing hours, given its proximity to the Isle of Man Airport. Moreover, drones pose a significant threat to rider safety, serving as a serious distraction that can put lives at risk. Race marshals have been instructed to report any drone sightings directly to race control, with unauthorized drone operation potentially leading to race or practice interruptions.
Breaching these regulations will result in severe penalties, with fines reaching up to £10,000 for offenders. This strict no-drone policy will also be enforced during the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company Southern 100 Road Races, scheduled to take place from July 8th to 11th, 2024.
“All road racing enthusiasts are urged to respect this important regulation, prioritizing the safety of riders and ensuring an enjoyable experience for all involved.”
