Blackford Financial Services Pre-TT Classic Road Races
This Saturday, May 25th, the iconic Colas Billown Course is set to thrill road racing enthusiasts with the 2024 Blackford Financial Services Pre-TT Classic Road Races. Following two practice sessions, the first four races will take place between 6:00 pm and 9:00 pm, promising an electrifying evening of road racing news.
MSP-R Sponsored 350cc/250cc Singles Race
The MSP-R sponsored 350cc/250cc Singles Race is expected to be a real barnburner, with last year’s 250cc winner, Barry Davidson, and previous victor Keith Shannon going head-to-head. They’ll be joined by an impressive grid, including:
- Gary Hutton
- Steve Higerty
- Geoff Bates
With Mike Hose, last year’s 350cc winner, absent this time around, new riders will have the chance to etch their names on the trophy. Keep an eye on podium finishers from last year, Will Loder and Adrian Skaife, as well as Rod Graham, Steven Moody, Shelly Pike, and Edward Poole, who are all ready to battle it out in this six-lap showdown.
1100cc Classic Race
The 1100cc Classic Race has attracted a strong grid, thanks in part to new sponsor Foraging Vintners of Port St Mary. Previous winner Alan Oversby is looking to repeat his success, but he’ll face stiff competition from podium finisher Andy Hornby, as well as Mike Browne, Chris McGahan, Steven Elliott, Will Loder, Barry Davidson, and Hefyn Owen, among others.
Geoff Duke Junior Superbike Race
The Geoff Duke Junior Superbike Race is also shaping up to be a thrilling contest, with Rhys Hardisty returning to defend his title against a full grid of thirty competitors. Previous winner Chris Moore, Dan Sayle, Tom Snow, Adrian Skaife, Barry Davidson, Steve Higerty, Joey Thompson, and Simon Lehane will all be gunning for the top spot.
400cc Machines and Sidecar Races
The inclusion of 400cc machines for the first time is expected to add an extra layer of excitement, with riders like Joe Yeardsley, Alan Oversby, Richard Ford, Owen Monaghan, Steve Moody, and Marc Colvin set to shake things up. The sidecar races, taking place on Saturday evening and Sunday, promise to bring the curtain down on the main race day in style. With last year’s winner absent, second and third place crews Jack Gristwood and Alice Smith, and Danny Quirk with new passenger Sharon Reeves, will be looking to take the top spot. They’ll face stiff competition from the likes of Mike Bellaby and Dave Gristwood, Tony Thirkell and William Moralee, Kenny Howles and Jordan Forrest, and previous Southern 100 Sidecar champion Greg Lambert with Andrew Haynes in the chair, among others.
