Conor Cummins Withdraws from 2024 Isle of Man TT Races, Putting Padgetts Racing Future in Doubt
In a sudden turn of events, Conor Cummins has announced his withdrawal from the 2024 Isle of Man TT Races, effective immediately. The Manxman, who has been a stalwart with Padgetts Racing for the past eight years, secured multiple podium finishes with the veteran outfit.
Cummins’ 2024 TT campaign got off to a rocky start, plagued by mechanical issues with his Honda TT bike. He retired from the opening Supersport and Superbike races, managing only an eighth-place finish in Thursday’s Superstock race.
“In a statement, Cummins expressed gratitude to his sponsors and family, wishing his fellow competitors the best for the remainder of the TT.”
However, he offered no insight into the reasons behind his withdrawal, leaving fans speculating about his future with Padgetts Racing.
Cummins, who made his TT debut in 2006, came agonizingly close to podium finishes last year despite missing several races due to illness. His withdrawal from the TT comes just a year after his former team-mate Davey Todd parted ways with Padgetts mid-season.
- Todd went on to join TAS Racing, securing his first TT victory in Thursday’s Superstock race. Meanwhile, Padgetts welcomed back 16-time TT winner Ian Hutchinson, marking his return to the Isle of Man after missing last year’s event due to a stroke. Hutchinson finished 13th in Thursday’s Superstock race, 15th in the Supersport contest, and retired from the Superbike race.
As the road racing world wonders about Cummins’ future plans, one thing is certain – his withdrawal from the 2024 Isle of Man TT Races has sent shockwaves through the paddock.
