Isle of Man TT Races See Surge in Speeds
The Isle of Man TT Races witnessed a surge in speeds on Friday afternoon, with Davey Todd and Peter Hickman locked in a fierce battle at the top of the Superbike leaderboard. Todd’s Milwaukee BMW Motorrad clocked an impressive 133.942mph lap, his quickest ever lap around the iconic Mountain Course, narrowly edging out Hickman by less than a second.
Michael Dunlop Dominates Superstock Class
Michael Dunlop dominated the Superstock class with a lap of 132.135mph on the MD Racing Honda, while also impressing in the Supersport category with a lap of 127.649mph on his MD Racing Yamaha.
Peter Hickman Sets Fastest Lap in Supertwin Class
In the Supertwin class, Peter Hickman set the fastest lap of the week so far, clocking an impressive 120.885mph.
Sidecars See Improved Speeds
Manx brothers Ryan and Callum Crowe continued to up their speeds in the Sidecars, reaching an impressive 119.191mph.
Sidecar Session Highlights
The Sidecars were the first to take to the course at 1.05pm, with Reeves/Wilkes, Founds/Walmsley, Ryan/Callum Crowe, and Molyneux/Roberts leading the charge. Although some pairs experienced initial setbacks, including Reeves/Wilkes and Founds/Walmsley, who were bedding in new engines, the Crowes eventually posted an impressive 119.191mph lap.
Birchall/Rousseau briefly held the top spot but suffered an incident at the Mountain Box, leaving Founds/Walmsley, Blackstock/Rosney, and Ellis/Clement to fill the top spots.
Superbike/Superstock Session
As the Superbike/Superstock session got underway at 2.15pm, Dean Harrison, Jamie Coward, and John McGuinness were among the first riders to take to the course. However, it was Todd who topped the Superbike leaderboard with a blistering 133.942mph lap on his Milwaukee BMW Motorrad, just 0.7 seconds ahead of Hickman. Michael Dunlop dominated the Superstock class with a lap of 132.135mph.
Supersport/Supertwin Session
The final session of the afternoon, featuring the Supersport/Supertwin categories, saw James Hind take the early lead on the North Lincs Components Suzuki. However, Coward, Dunlop, and Todd soon overhauled him, with Dunlop eventually claiming the top spot. In the Supertwin class, Herbertson initially led the way on the Burrows Engineering/RK Racing Paton, but Hickman eventually took the top spot with a lap of 120.885mph.
The action-packed afternoon showcased the riders’ increasing pace as they prepared for the upcoming races, with the Mountain Course once again proving to be a formidable challenge.
