Cycling Enthusiasts Eagerly Await the 2024 Isle of Man TT
Cycling aficionados are abuzz with excitement as the provisional schedule for the 2024 Isle of Man TT has been unveiled. This prestigious road racing event, a true highlight for the cycling community, will feature an expanded race program, promising an electrifying spectacle for fans.
The 2023 edition of the TT showcased a total of eight solo races, including the iconic Superbike TT, Supersport TT, Supertwin TT, Superstock TT, and the prestigious Senior TT. Additionally, a pair of Sidecar contests added to the thrill of the event. This format will remain in place for the upcoming 2024 edition, ensuring continuity and familiarity for the devoted cycling audience.
The action is set to commence on Saturday, June 1, with the first Supersport race and the inaugural Sidecar contest. Sunday, June 2, will witness the highly anticipated Superbike TT, won in 2023 by the ever-impressive Michael Dunlop aboard the Hawk Racing Honda.
Following a rest day on June 3, the first Superstock and Supertwin races will take place on June 4, with the second Supersport and final Sidecar outings scheduled for June 5. Another rest day has been pencilled in for June 6, before the final Superstock and Supertwin races conclude the program on June 7. The grand finale, the Senior TT, will bring the curtain down on the thrilling event on June 8.
As the cycling community eagerly awaits the 2024 Isle of Man TT, all eyes will be on the potential record-breaking feats. Michael Dunlop, the reigning champion, is poised to match and potentially surpass the all-time record of 26 TT victories held by the late, great Joey Dunlop. Dunlop’s nephew tallied up 25 TT wins in 2023, cementing his status as a true icon of the sport.
Alongside the individual triumphs, the 2023 edition witnessed some remarkable achievements. Peter Hickman set a new outright TT lap record of 136.358mph in the Superstock TT 2, while the Birchall brothers shattered the Sidecar lap record at 120.645mph.
