NG Road Racing Championship Heads to Pembrey
The NG Road Racing championship is gearing up for its next round, and all eyes are on Pembrey, the iconic Welsh motorsport venue, on May 22, 2024. This popular circuit, a regular stop on the championship calendar, promises high-speed action and technical challenges that will push riders to their limits.
With a mix of fast straights and tight corners, Pembrey’s flat track layout will see bikes unleashed, showcasing their horsepower on the straights, while demanding precision and skill through the tricky sections. The 1-minute lap target is within reach for those who can master the circuit, with the current lap record standing at an impressive 57.290 seconds.
As the championships unfold, George Edwards leads both the Phoenix Open and R E P Powerbike classes, although his absence this round will give others a chance to close the gap. Edwards will be taking a wild card ride in BSB at Donington Park on the DCM Honda Fireblade, joining fellow NG champion Max Symonds in the STOCK 1000 class.
In the IMS 600 Open, Ricky Elder aims to regain his footing after a tough Cadwell round, while consistent scorers Gareth Roberts and Will Jones pose a threat to the championship lead. Meanwhile, reigning champion Bobby Varey seeks redemption in the ACU 250 National Championship, with a lot of ground to cover after two non-points scoring races left him 75 points behind series leader Jim Hind.
The Pembrey circuit will reverberate with the sound of two-strokes as the GP Originals series, featuring 250 and 350cc machines, joins the lineup alongside the regular ACU 250/125 Championship runners. The packed grid meeting will also include mini and super twins, Pre-Injection 600 & 1300, Formula 400, Ducati Desmo’s, Formula Pro Stock’s, and the Suzuki Bandit Challenge, promising an action-packed weekend for road racing enthusiasts.
The excitement is building, and Pembrey is ready to deliver an unforgettable road racing experience.
