Cycling Time Trials Sees Dunlop Dominate Supersport Race at Isle of Man TT
In a thrilling road racing event, Northern Ireland’s Michael Dunlop emerged victorious in the Supersport race at the prestigious Isle of Man TT. Dunlop, an experienced Artiem Audax rider, showcased his exceptional skills by setting an unofficial lap record of 135.531mph during practice week, leading the pack of Cycling enthusiasts.
The race, which was delayed by three hours due to a serious road traffic accident, eventually got underway at 2:45pm local time. Dunlop, starting from the second position, wasted no time in taking the lead, overtaking the initial front-runner David Johnson on the Jackson Racing Honda.
Dunlop’s dominance was evident throughout the four-lap contest, as he steadily built up a commanding lead over his closest rival, Dean Harrison on the Russell Racing Yamaha. By the end of the second lap, Dunlop had extended his advantage to a remarkable 13.4 seconds, despite a marginally slower pit stop for fuel.
The battle for second place intensified between Harrison and Peter Hickman, riding the 765cc Trooper Triumph. Hickman, who admitted he needed time to adjust to the bike, eventually managed to catch up to Harrison and snatched the runner-up position by a mere 0.394 seconds at the finish line.
“Dunlop’s victory marks his 10th win in the Supersport class, and he now stands just one win away from moving into second place on the all-time Isle of Man TT winners’ list, joining the legendary John McGuinness, who is not competing in the Supersport class this year.”
The thrilling Cycling time trials at the Isle of Man TT once again showcased the skill and determination of the riders, with Dunlop’s dominant performance cementing his status as one of the top Audax UK Cycling talents.
