Experienced Kawasaki Rider James Hillier Set to Return to the Isle of Man TT in 2024 with Bournemouth Kawasaki Team
Published on Visordown, the latest road racing news reveals that James Hillier, a prominent figure in Kawasaki’s road racing program throughout the 2010s, is set to make a comeback to the Isle of Man TT in 2024. Hillier, who has claimed five Supersport podiums with Kawasaki, will reunite with the Bournemouth Kawasaki team, led by Pete Extance, to pilot the iconic Kawasaki ZX-6R in the Supersport class.
“I’m excited to be back with Pete and the team at Bournemouth Kawasaki once again for the Supersport races. We collectively have a lot of knowledge and data after many years racing together and at the TT that’s a crucial element to being competitive.”
Pete Extance, the Bournemouth Kawasaki Team Owner, shared his enthusiasm for the team’s return to the Isle of Man TT in 2024, emphasizing the event’s unparalleled status as the “best road race in the world.” Extance also expressed his delight in running Hillier once again, this time with a special 40th Anniversary liveried Ninja machine.
Alongside his Supersport duties, Hillier will also be racing a Honda CBR1000RR-R Fireblade SP for the WTF Honda team, which is part of the OMG Yamaha setup in the British Superbike Championship. Hillier, who has previously raced for OMG, is excited about the new challenge, stating:
“Riding the Hondas will be a new challenge for me after two years on the Yamaha but given the performance we’ve seen of late from the Fireblade, whether in Superbike or Superstock trim, it’s one I’m really looking forward to.”
The WTF Racing team has also committed to racing responsibly, with plans to offset their carbon footprint from the moment their trucks leave for the North West 200 and the Isle of Man TT. Team owner, Alan Gardner, emphasized the importance of “winning in the race to save the planet” alongside their focus on track success.
