Dean Harrison’s Quick Thinking Saves the Day During 2024 Isle of Man TT Qualifying
When Dean Harrison’s #3 Honda Superbike broke down during qualifying on Wednesday evening, the Isle of Man TT star was left stranded on the TT Mountain Course. With no service road to rely on, he needed an alternative mode of transport to get back to the pits in time for the upcoming Supersport practice.
In a remarkable display of resourcefulness, Harrison commandeered a Honda CBR600RR and, with the owner riding pillion, rode it back to the Honda Racing UK pits.
This was not the first time a TT rider had to think on their feet to get back to the pits. The No Room for Error documentary featured a similar story from Davey Todd, who rode an enduro bike across fields to get back to the pits after his Honda broke down.
Harrison’s quick thinking paid off, as he managed to get back just in time to head out on his Superstock Fireblade and post a fourth-fastest lap in the Superstock rankings. In Supersport, he finished seventh-fastest.
However, the TT has not been going according to plan for Harrison, with the Bradford rider struggling to find speed on both the Superbike and Supersport machines.
As of Thursday practice, Harrison has only completed one lap on the Superbike, which came on Monday, and his best Supersport lap is over 2mph off Michael Dunlop’s best time.
