Friday Marks Penultimate Day of 2023 Road Racing Action at the Isle of Man TT
The Isle of Man TT is set to witness another thrilling day of road racing action on Friday, with the second Superstock and Supertwin races taking center stage.
Initially scheduled to commence at 11:45 am local time, the three-lap Superstock contest has been delayed by 45 minutes due to a reported loose branch in the Greeba Castle section of the circuit. The race will now get underway at 12:30 pm, followed by the Supertwin class at 2:45 pm, both maintaining their three-lap format.
This marks the third time this week that the road racing event has encountered a significant delay, with previous interruptions caused by a serious road traffic accident on the opening day and weather conditions on Tuesday.
Friday Could be Historic for Road Racing Legend Michael Dunlop
Friday could prove to be a historic day for road racing legend Michael Dunlop, who is poised to match and potentially surpass his late uncle Joey Dunlop’s all-time record of 26 TT wins. Dunlop secured his 25th victory on Wednesday in the Supersport race, his fourth triumph of the week.
“The only class Dunlop has not won this week is the Superstock, where Peter Hickman has been the dominant force, taking the victory on Tuesday. However, Motorsport.com has learned that Hickman’s win was under the threat of a protest by a rival team, who accused the FHO rider of using an illegal earpiece in his helmet. Ultimately, no official protest was lodged as the earpiece claims proved to be incorrect.”
Senior Race to Conclude the 2023 Isle of Man TT
The 2023 Isle of Man TT will conclude on Saturday with the blue riband Senior race across six laps, which is scheduled to begin at 12:45 pm. It is widely expected that the outright lap record will be officially broken in the Senior race, following Dunlop’s blistering 135.531 mph practice lap earlier in the week.
