2024 Marks 20 Years of Ducati Sporting Club’s Desmo Due Race Series
The Ducati Sporting Club’s (DSC) Desmo Due race series, supported by Dunlop and NGRRC, kicked off its 20th season on March 23rd at the fast-paced Oulton Park circuit. This well-established road racing event continues to provide DSC club members the opportunity to compete on production bikes with limited modifications and a control Dunlop SportSmart TT tyre, where rider talent takes precedence over deep pockets.
Despite the cold weather conditions, the opening round saw some thrilling on-track action. In the main race, defending champion Dominic Cann (1) took a commanding victory, finishing 4.5 seconds ahead of Carl Smalley (691), with Chris Norris (22) rounding out the podium just 0.01 seconds ahead of Enrico Belsito (13).
“The Desmo Due race series continues to be a thrilling and competitive event, where riders can showcase their skills on production-based machines,” said the DSC spokesperson.
The B-class race saw a close battle between Sean Coyle (57) and Jim Robinson (55), with Coyle emerging victorious by a 3-second margin. For the second race, Cann (1) once again took the win, with Smalley (691) finishing second and Dan Hobson (137) fourth after setting the fastest lap from his starting position of 7th.
In the B-class race, Robinson (55) managed to catch and pass Coyle (57) on lap 5, going on to take the win, with Will Pugh (71) finishing third.
The series will continue its 2024 campaign at Cadwell Park on April 12-13, with the NGRRC team and Dunlop once again providing their valued support and expertise. The Ducati Sporting Club extends its gratitude to all the marshals, medical staff, and the organizers who ensured the smooth running of this thrilling road racing event.
