Road Racing News: TT Schedule Adjusted Due to Weather Conditions
Following a week of intense road racing action, Monday served as a well-deserved rest day for the TT paddock. However, the resumption of racing on Tuesday morning was met with unexpected delays.
Initially, the organisers announced a 30-minute delay due to cloudy conditions, pushing the first Superstock race to 12:15pm local time. The Supertwins contest was also rescheduled, moving from 2pm to 2:45pm. Unfortunately, the weather conditions failed to improve, prompting a further delay.
Revised Schedule
The revised schedule saw the Superstock race switching to a 12:40pm start, with the Supertwins contest now set for 3pm. However, with the cloud cover over the mountain persisting, the entire schedule was pushed back by an hour.
- The one-lap solo warm-up session will now commence at 12:30pm
- The Superstock race at 2:45pm
- The Supertwins event at 6:30pm
The roads surrounding the 37.75-mile course remained closed from 10am, with the Sidecar shakedown taking place at 11:45am.
Racing Details
Both the Superstock and Supertwins races today will feature three laps of the iconic circuit. This marks the second delay to racing this week, following the severe disruption to Saturday’s schedule caused by a serious road traffic accident.
Michael Dunlop, competing in both contests, stands poised to surpass TT legend John McGuinness‘ tally of 22 career wins. With a victory in the Superbike race on Sunday, Dunlop now has the opportunity to close in on the all-time record of 26 wins set by his late uncle Joey Dunlop. Additionally, a win in both classes today would put Dunlop just one win shy of Ian Hutchinson‘s record of five TT victories in a single week.
2023 TT Milestone
The 2023 TT marks a historic milestone, as it will be the first time the Superstock and Supertwins classes will feature two races at the event, with the second leg taking place on Friday. Wednesday will see the second Supersport and Sidecar contests run, while the Senior TT will close out the event on Saturday.
