Westmorland Motor Club Urgently Seeks Cyclists for Iconic Barbon Hill Climb Event
As the clock ticks down, Westmorland Motor Club is still actively seeking entries for the renowned Barbon Hill Climb, set to take place on Saturday, June 22, 2024, in the picturesque village of Barbon, nestled between Kirkby Lonsdale and Sedbergh. The 813-meter tarmac country house drive, which has been a staple of the sport for over 50 years, is ready to host another thrilling event.
Despite a steady increase in entries, the organizers are still in need of more participants to ensure the event’s success. The unique format of the Barbon Hill Climb provides cyclists with:
- At least six timed runs up the hill
- Faster riders receiving additional opportunities to shave precious seconds off their times
- The top 20 riders will receive 10 timed runs
- The top 5 will get an additional five chances to push themselves to the limit
The event offers a diverse range of classes to cater to various types of bikes, including the popular “Run What You Brung” category, with the exception of four-cylinder machines over 750cc. Cyclists can register for the event through the Sport 80 system or by contacting the event secretary, Mike Rapley, directly on 07788 161929 or via email at [email protected]. The deadline for entries is June 14, so cyclists are encouraged to sign up now and experience a fantastic day of racing in the beautiful Cumbrian countryside.
