Surprising Twist in Road Racing News: Michael Dunlop Obtains Motorcycle License
In a stunning revelation, road racing legend Michael Dunlop, a member of the elite 135mph club, has finally obtained his motorcycle license. This news highlights a peculiar aspect of professional motorcycle racing, where top riders often lack a valid motorcycle license.
A 25-Time Isle of Man TT Winner
Michael Dunlop joins the ranks of world-class riders who have acquired their road riding credentials. To achieve this feat, Dunlop underwent training with Moto Training NI, ultimately passing his motorcycle test on a Kawasaki Z650, a relatively modest machine with 67bhp and 47lb ft of torque compared to his usual high-powered TT racing bike.
Moto Training NI shared their experience with Dunlop on social media, saying, “We received a call from a rider with extensive road racing experience, but struggled to keep his bike upright and on two wheels. We’re thrilled to have helped him overcome his challenges, and he passed his final road test today in harsh conditions!”
The 2024 Isle of Man TT Approaches
As the 2024 Isle of Man TT approaches, Dunlop will be gearing up to tackle the world’s most demanding road racing course on his potent 200+ bhp Honda Fireblade. The event, scheduled to take place from Monday, 27th May 2024, to Saturday, 8th June 2024, will culminate in the six-lap Milwaukee Senior TT.
