High-Stakes Racing at Pembrey
The Pembrey round of the racing events saw a dedicated field of competitors make the long journey to the south of Wales, with all finishers scoring points in their respective championships. In timed qualifying, reigning A class champion Dominic Cann (1) set the pace with a blistering time of 1:07.07, closely followed by Enrico Belsito (13) with a time of 1:07.19, while Brian Tipple (2) demonstrated his resilience by posting a time of 1:10.4 despite a recent streak of bad luck.
B Class Showdown
In the highly competitive B class, Jim Robinson (55) and Sean Coyle (57) vied for top honors, with Robinson ultimately claiming the fastest time of 1:12.04 and Coyle taking second with a time of 1:12.19.
Saturday’s First Race
Moving on to Saturday’s first race, Cann (1) got off to a flying start, but his 10-second jumpstart penalty ultimately came to nothing as he crashed out after completing just one flying lap. Belsito (13) capitalized on the opportunity to take the lead, with Tipple (2) securing second place and Andy Taylor (21) claiming his first DD podium spot. Meanwhile, in the B class, Coyle (57) overhauled Robinson (55) on lap 9 of 10 to take the class win, with Will Pugh (71) claiming third.
Sunday’s Races
On Sunday morning, Cann (1) faced a challenging start from the back of the grid but impressed by rising to sixth overall by the end of lap one. As the race unfolded, Belsito (13) emerged victorious with a slender two-second gap to Cann (1) in second and Tipple (2) 21 seconds adrift. In the B class, Robinson (55) and Coyle (57) continued their intensely competitive battle, with Robinson ultimately taking the win by strategically placing a junior SuperSport rider between himself and Coyle by the flag. Pugh (71) secured third place.
The weekend’s fastest lap belonged to Belsito, who logged a scorching time of 1:06.7 on lap 9 of 10.
Final Race
In the final race, Cann (1) reasserted his dominance, starting from the front row and ultimately taking the win 2.5 seconds ahead of Belsito (13), with Tipple (2) claiming the final podium spot. In the B class, Robinson (55) secured victory, followed by Steve Baden (95) in second and Pugh (71) in third.
