Road Racing News: Josh Brookes to Make Supersport Class Return at 2024 Isle of Man TT with Russell Racing Yamaha
As reported on February 27 by Visordown, Josh Brookes is set to make his comeback to the Supersport class at the 2024 Isle of Man TT, teaming up with Mike Browne in the Russell Racing Yamaha squad. This marks Brookes’ return to the class after a six-year hiatus, with his last Supersport appearance dating back to 2018.
While rumors swirl around the impending arrival of the Yamaha R9, it’s clear that the Yamaha R6 will still play a significant role in the Supersport class at this year’s Isle of Man TT. Russell Racing Yamaha has secured Brookes and Browne for the 2024 season, with both riders eager to take on the challenging course.
“I had a bit of FOMO in the Supersport races last year and had a couple of opportunities pop up for potentially riding in the class this year, so I had the luxury of some choices to make. Alister’s bike was the most attractive to me, and that’s why I chose to contact him and further the conversation to get the deal across the line.” – Josh Brookes
Mike Browne, meanwhile, expressed his excitement at joining the team, saying:
“I’m obviously delighted to be joining Alister and the team. I was very surprised when we first talked, and that he might be interested in running me this year as he’s obviously had a very high calibre of riders these last few years. I don’t think I’m at the level of the riders he’s had, but with his experience and what he’s proven he can do these last few years, I’m hoping he can bring me to that level.”
The 2024 Isle of Man TT is scheduled to take place from May 27 to June 8. Stay up-to-date with the latest road racing news and updates on Visordown.
